Salute to Women Fighters: Women Advancing the Fight for the Rights of All

Salute to Women Fighters
Women Advancing the Fight for the Rights of All

On International Women’s Day, March 8, Voice of Revolution salutes all the fighting women worldwide and the many collectives and fighting forces they join and contribute to organizing. Women are coming forward to affirm themselves by advancing the fight for the rights of all. Whether it is the many “peace moms” and their many daughters standing opposed to the war in Iraq and all aggressive wars, whether it is the young women fighting for the right to education, whether it is the women forced on welfare fighting the violence of poverty and for the rights of their families, whether it is Native women, African American women opposing state-organized racism and brutality, the many women immigrants denouncing raids and organizing to oppose criminalization of their youth and families, whether it is the many women healthcare workers demanding the right to healthcare for all, or the women leading the anti-imperialist and revolutionary forces — all, together, are taking their place in the forefront of the fight for rights. Similarly, worldwide, it is the mothers who stand up in the midst of the genocidal U.S.-Israeli destruction in Lebanon and Palestine and proclaim, bombs cannot kill the resistance!

Wherever the fight is persisting and going forward, women can be found, resolute and undaunted. All are refusing to be ghettoized, refusing to separate one fight from the other and instead organizing both as part of their collectives in the common battle for a society that guarantees rights. By fighting for the rights of all women are affirming themselves and their role in society as the bringers of the new, whether that new be new life or new societies.
The reality that women can be found in the front ranks of the battle, determined to advance the cause of humanity, is a source of great fear for the ruling circles. And for that reason, the U.S. rulers are now putting women forward as their “face.” They are bringing to the fore the Nancy Pelosis and Hillary Clintons — the Democrats, those supposedly concerned about working people, about national minorities. They are attempting to foster the illusion that women cannot possibly be as brutal. The reality is that the fascism being imposed in the U.S. is not going to have the open face of the military. It is going to have the face of a Hillary Clinton.

The level of brutality and impunity now being unleashed by the ruling circles knows no bounds and will continue to intensify as the U.S. and its imperialist system faces failure on all sides. Every effort is being made to further decimate women and young girls, with great violence and repression being targeted against them. The rulers are striving to make it impossible for women to do anything more than survive. Women are instead showing that humans exist to live, to bring forward change that advances humanity. Today, in this new millennium, women are organizing to guarantee this result.
