Public Control of Public Schools

Buffalo teachers, parents and students rallied October 15 before the School Board meeting at City Hall demanding the public schools stay in public hands. They opposed plans to turn Lafayette, Bennett, East and MLK High Schools into private charter schools. Private charters are controlled by private interests, often millionaires, while they are funded with public dollars. The public has no control and the private charters are not accountable to the public. Teachers, parents and students united to say:
Our Public Schools Are Not for Sale!
Millions for Our Children Not for Charters!
Public Control of Public Schools!
