International Night at Lafayette

Songs and Dance Celebrate Many Cultures

International Night at Lafayette High School brought together the many different cultures of students from the school through performances and foods that give the student body at Lafayette a special uniqueness. The student body altogether speaks more than 40 languages, and come from different regions of the world, including countries of South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean and Latin America.

The enthusiasm of the students gave a warm, welcoming feeling to the crowd. The night started with performances of dances and songs from Thailand, Puerto Rico, Congo, and the US. Students and faculty provided musical accompaniment and ran the sound board. Students had also prepared paintings, jewelry and other crafts as part of representing the school's art program.

Soon after, the crowd of mainly students as well as faculty, staff, family and friends, enjoyed the many different foods that were available from a variety of places around the world. This was thanks to the participation of many in the preparation of the dinner.

The cafeteria was filled with exchanges and laughter while those present were enjoying the food. There was also a fun basket raffle given for students to win, which was donated by teachers of Lafayette and others. The lively, bubbly feel of the night in the beautiful school was more than appreciated, and not to be missed in the next years to come.
